Q: What medical tests should I get to ensure I am healthy?
A: Everyone needs a Calcium CT, sleep study, genetic screen, and hormone check.
A calcium CT scan will reveal plaque buildup in the arteries. This determines whether you are at risk for a heart attack or stroke. If you notice plaque buildup, you can begin an anti-inflammatory regimen to minimize plaque adhesion or receive a stint. Relying on cholesterol statistics is not a smart idea because I have seen dozens of people with “bad” cholesterol have minimal plaque and those with incredibly “good” cholesterol numbers need emergency care with their plaque.
Even if you do not snore, this does not imply that you are breathing adequately while sleeping. A sleep study can tell you where your oxygen levels are at night. This can assist you in determining whether you require additional exercise, a CPAP, or perhaps a dental device. This can also be used to rule out or adjust the course of treatment for seizures, migraines, lethargy, chronic pain, anxiety, memory problems, and general uneasiness. I recommend these for people of all ages, and I’ve tested them on my own children, so you’re never too young.
Genetic testing can reveal a lot about our personalities. It can assist us in deciding which medications to utilize. It can tell us about cancer, cardiac problems, how our brain will respond to a concussion and much more. Having this information can help you anticipate what to look for in the future, allowing you to avoid problems. Just because your parents didn’t have a problem with something doesn’t imply you’re safe. Check your genetics to make sure.
We shouldn’t put off checking our hormone levels till we’re 50. There are numerous challenges that arise while we are young that must be handled. Hormone disorders can cause fatigue, ADD, weight issues, energy issues, growth, anxiety and sadness, mental focus, and bone density. I’ve seen people of all ages, including youngsters, with hormonal imbalances. Correcting these flaws can have a huge impact on people’s lives. Remember that hormones instruct the body on what to do and when to do it. The body will not function properly if correct levels are not maintained.
