    Why It’s Important to Let Go of Things You Cannot Control in Order to Reduce Stress and Anxiety.

    Over the last few years, I’ve noticed increased anxiety and stress in my patients. Yes, Covid exists, or did it exist? Are we done with the Russia situation now? I’m not certain.

    They are concerned on top of their regular life. I’ve tried to think of a pleasant or delicate way to express this, but I can’t, so here it is. It would be preferable if you guys cared less about many things. Not because caring is bad but because stressing over things you can’t alter is physically killing you.

    For example, I recently met with a woman who is distraught over the animals that will be injured in Ukraine. Now I’ll admit that I like more animals, primarily dogs, than most people. Having said that, take a deep breath and relax.

    I inquired what she was doing about it and how she was assisting. She stated that she was powerless to help. I asked if she knew there was a charity for animals in war. She was confident, so I advised her to let it go. Concentrate on the creatures in her neighborhood.

    As a result, she chose to volunteer at a local shelter. With the constant anxiety that the news and social media spread, it is simple to become concerned about various issues. But first, ask yourself, “Can I do anything about this?” If you can’t, try letting it go.

    Worrying about something you can’t change will ruin you. Learning to let go of certain things is a terrific way to be happier and have less stress; we all know how dangerous stress can be. So, instead of telling you to care about anything, I’m telling you to try to assess the situation. Find strategies to help resolve or mitigate the problem, implement those solutions, and move on.

    It is critical to learn whether something is harmful and why you believe it is bad and then to resolve the issue to the point where you can let it go.

    When you see yourself becoming concerned about anything, run through this checklist.

    Have I done everything I can to resolve this problem? Is it worth it to continue worrying about this and stressing over it now that I’ve done everything I can?

    This is a complex topic, and I spend a lot of time discussing it with my clients but comprehending it is critical. It is not a weakness to choose to let go. It does not imply that you are a bad person. It means that you know your talents and do not accept responsibility for events beyond your control.
